Black/White & Color
Art of Douglas Light, Michele Hofherr and Albert Hwang

June 1st - July 2nd, 2007
Reception: 6-10pm. Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Painters and photographer explore both color and its absence in an exhibit entitled “Black/White & Color” at Esteban Sabar Gallery from June 1st to July 2nd, 2007.

Douglas Light’s new series of abstracts use energetic brush strokes of saturated color.  Light’s oil and pastel on canvas ironically produce serene understatements. His confident use of color leads to striking harmonies that emanate an uplifting mood.

Albert Hwang’s streaked acrylic paintings scintillate through ragged overlays of warm and cool colors. On display will be both his black & white spirals and color paintings.

Michele Hofherr's black and white botanical photographs are shot very simply, using only available light and no backdrop, to explore the high contrast, black and white beauty of plants.

Michele Hofherr's photographic work has frequently featured people and has evolved from natural, black & white portraiture to colorful lifestyle commercial work for clients such as Shutterfly, Children's Hospital, Trumer Pilsner and Lexar (who feature her as one of their 'elite photographers').
